Dr. David Usieto Cabrera

Dr. David Usieto is a curator, cultural strategist, and art historian working at the intersection of contemporary art, luxury, and cultural innovation. He is co founder of GUTs Art Hub, a cross regional project focused cultural projects that connect heritage, cultural diplomacy and contemporary storytelling, as well as public engagement. He has also served as Chief Art Officer at DIP as well as Senior Consultant for different Auction Houses and Private Institutions.

He acts as Professor of Art History at L’ÉCOLE Van Cleef & Arpels, where he lectures on jewelry, heritage, and visual culture. He has collaborated as well in public appearances and lectures with Louvre Abu Dhabi and Harper’s BAZAAR among many others. His independent practice focuses on curatorial direction, institutional cultural strategy, and advisory for art, luxury, and heritage based projects across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.

Dr. Usieto holds a PhD in Asian Art from Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz and brings over twelve years of international experience across museums, cultural institutions, and luxury houses. His curatorial work includes among many luxury heritage projects with Van Cleef & Arpels; the long form platform Hidden Statements at NKW, where he led both digital and physical programming supporting Afghan artists; as well as cultural strategy and curatorial contributions to Masaveu Collection in Madrid.

Alongside his institutional work, he has advised private collectors and cultural stakeholders on acquisition strategy, exhibition development, and narrative positioning. His practice centers on building bridges between East and West, activating heritage through contemporary frameworks, and shaping new models for art, luxury, and cultural exchange.
